Beverage containers in California to be made with at least 25% recycled content material by 2021, 50% by 2025, and 75% by 2030.
At the beginning of August, California's new recycled content bill comes out of committee to be voted upon and it appears that even beverage companies are behind this bill. The legislation will prohibit material without recycled content, starting at 15% in 2021 and increasing 5% a year, although the final bill could adjust both the recycling content level and the timing. This bill's passage will certainly complicate beverage companies' packaging logistics.
